- Melvin Aubrey Mace Jr. was born December 3, 1941 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Bruceville-Eddy and graduated from BEHS in 1960.
On December 23, 1963 he married the love of his life Patsy Crelia.
Mace worked as a barber in Waco, Texas in the 1960’s then became employed by Central Freight Lines and Davis Brothers Publishing as a truck driver but later retired from Huck Manufacturing in 2002.
After retirement Mace and Pat moved to Chigger Hill where he lived the remainder of his life. Mace had many hobbies during his lifetime that created so many memories for himself, Pat and his family. Mace owned many classic cars throughout his life and with those he and Pat enjoyed years of car shows together. He was an avid collector of stamps, coins and arrowheads. His very impressive arrowhead collection is museum quality and he was very proud of it. His favorite T.V. shows were classic movies especially Big Foot and UFO documentaries. Some of his most special times were spent riding his Harley. Mace and Pat traveled to many destinations over the years including many trips to Sturgis, South Dakota, 4 Corners, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and all areas in between. These trips filled his life with great memories and lifelong friends. He hosted many parties at Chigger Hill like Time Change, Party till you Puke and Fourth of July. All of those who attended left with many lifetime memories. Mace was always up for a good game of Texas Hold’em with his favorite hand King deuce but while relaxing at home he would enjoy scratching his weekly lottery tickets.
Mace is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Crelia Mace of Bruceville, Texas. As well as his children Vicki McLean, Rita Wilson and Brad Mace; Grandchildren Carla Mace, Whitney Ridgeway, and Bryan Roscher; Great Grandchildren Mace Powers, Bree Powers, Kamrin Mace, Dallas Mace, Jordan Mace, Wimberly Mace, Regan Roscher, Abby Lynn, Jax Ridgeway, Ash Ridgeway, Calin Roscher and Great Great Grandson Atlas Valdez.
Mace is preceded in death by his Grandparents Nanny and Tawtaw Smith; Parents Francis Dawson and Melvin Mace Sr; and his daughter Audrey Christine Mace.
